Improving awareness and patient outcomes in migraine management – a neurologist's perspective

Stigmatization is a significant concern for people living with migraine and migraine is often accompanied by mental health issues. As part of Migraine Awareness Month, we sat down with Dr. William Kingston, Assistant Professor of Neurology at the University of Toronto and neurologist, at a recent congress and asked him to share some insights into how HCPs can effectively counsel and support patients dealing with comorbid migraine and mental illness and the challenges associated with stigma in migraine care. He also discusses the impact updated clinical guidelines will have on clinical practice and patient outcomes in the management of migraine and how professional collaborations are helpful. He then shares his insights on unique challenges or opportunities for raising awareness about migraine in Canada and how HCPs can contribute to these efforts.
