What is the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on Canadians and on mental health care in Canada?

The COVID pandemic has resulted in a global increase of a variety of so-called ‘stress sensitive’ mental disorders, including major depressive disorder and anxiety disorders. We spoke to Roger McIntyre, Professor of Psychiatry and Pharmacology at the University of Toronto, at a recent congress about what he thinks the short- and long-term impacts of the COVID pandemic have been on Canadians and on mental healthcare in Canada. Here he shares his insights on what he calls the triple threat of the COVID pandemic.
